This award shall be presented to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in the creation and application of new engineering intellect and knowledge. The awards shall be presented for research achievements that began with a concern for human needs, and which have made an outstanding contribution to the industrial technologies intended to satisfy those needs. The awards will place an emphasis on three targeted fields - social/economic well-being, individual/humanity well-being, and world environmental well-being. One award will be presented in each of the three fields, for a total of three awards to be presented each year. Each award will be accompanied by a monetary prize of 100 million yen. To be considered for an award, one must be nominated by an international group of nominators chosen for their knowledge of the target fields. Nominees may be of any nationality, age, or affiliation. In the selection process, an investigation group shall review and verify the nominated achievements in each field, after which winners will be determined by a selection committee and further approved by the Foundation's Board of Directors to ensure strict and impartial selection. Award recipients will be announced in early September of each year, and an Awards ceremony will be held in mid-end November. |
